Best Day at the Stocked Pond (Part 2)

Location: Stocked Pond

Bait: Powerbait Wigglers and Powerbait Eggs

Rig: Slip Weight with Powerbait.

Trying out some new bait. The pond dropped about 3 feet after the irrigation water was shut off for the year. This makes the pond much smaller and compresses the fish into smaller areas. There were a number of cormorants on the pond when I arrived but they all left soon after. Previously, there was only one or two to deal with, but today there were 8 or 9. These diving predators can cause a lot of stress on the fish, especially in such high numbers. However, the pond is sufficiently stocked that they were not much of an issue. I have one of my best days ever on the pond.

In this video, I catch an interesting surprise on camera. Some weeks later I would learn some kids caught it and kept it out of the water too long and it didn't survive. Wish I could have caught it.
