Natural Competition

Location: Stocked pond

Bait: Powerbait Eggs

Rig: Bottom Rig (slip weight with floating bait).

Today I didn't have to compete with people just a Cormorant. While I generally don't mind the osprey getting food from the stocked pond the Cormorant does bug me a little. I generally don't like to complain about nature being nature, but in this particular case, the Cormorant dives under the water to hunt its prey. In doing so it threatens every fish, not just the one that comes to the surface. This threat causes stress on the entire pond which makes the fish less likely to eat, thus reducing my ability to fish. Hard to fault nature for being nature, it is just mildly annoying is all.

What are your thoughts about competing with natural predators in your favorite fishing spots?
